General code of conduct for Medical students
All students must be properly attired, clean and tidy when they are in the college, hospital or clinics. A white coat is compulsory for everybody. They must also wear name tags or I.D. cards. Slippers are not allowed even for female students.

All students should be well disciplined, punctual and demonstrate high ethical values. They should be concerned sensitive, tolerant and polite when dealing with patients and their relatives.

Students should establish a cordial relationship and a good working rapport with their teachers and other health professionals.

Extreme care must be exercised when discussing patients problems, diagnosis and prognosis in front of the patient.

Students should concentrate on their learning activities and avoid wasting time.
Code of conduct in the dissection hall & Laboratory

Students should wear lab coat.

Students should handle the cadavers, bones & specimen with care and respect.

Students should handle all equipments carefully to avoid breakage.
Code of conduct in the ward

Students should first get permission of staff nurse in-charge of the ward before attending any patient or looking patient’s folder.

Students should obtain patient / guardian consent before examining the patient.

Students are not allowed to council or treat patients or relatives without supervisions from teachers.

Only one student is allowed to examine a patient at any one time.

A male student must have a chaperon while examine female patient. Chaperon should be a female member of staff or a female student.

The students should close the curtains before examining a patient.

In a service round, students must obtain the teacher’s permission before joining and before leaving the round.
